UCLA continues Fort Worth-area recruiting roll, lands third area standout
UCLA is on a stunning recruiting roll in the Fort Worth-area.
Richland four-star running back Jayshon Gibson announced his commitment Saturday, according to his social media. It’s the Bruins’ third commitment in three days involving standout players in Tarrant County.
On Friday, UCLA landed a commitment from North Crowley four-star defensive back Jerry Outhouse Jr. — He is ESPN’s No. 8 cornerback nationwide and 247Sports’ No. 24 overall class of 2027 player in Texas. He was previously committed to Georgia.
On Thursday, Byron Nelson four-star defensive lineman George Toia, the brother of Cowboys defensive lineman Jay Toia, committed to the Bruins. He is rated as the No. 14 class of 2027 player in Texas.
Gibson, arguably the most productive offensive returner in the Fort Worth-area, rushed for 2,263 yards and 41 TDs as a junior en route to Star-Telegram All-Area First Team honors. He added 287 yards and 5 TDs as a pass catcher.
Gibson, with a 5-foot-9, 185-pound frame, had offers from Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, SMU and more. He is the second highest rated offensive recruit in the Fort Worth-area, per 247 Sports.
UCLA sent Gibson an offer March 25, and he took a visit to the school April 28, according to his social media.
Three of the top six highest rated recruits in Tarrant County are now committed to the Bruins. In 2025, UCLA went 3-9, ending the season on a five game losing streak.
