Byron Nelson four-star recruit, brother of Cowboys player announces commitment

Byron Nelson four-star George Toia announced his commitment to UCLA Thursday.

Toia, with a 6-foot-2, 300-pound frame, is the brother of Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Jay Toia. He is rated as 247Sports No. 11 defensive lineman nationwide and the No. 14 overall class of 2027 player in Texas.

Toia had offers from Penn State, Texas, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, SMU and many more.

As a junior with Byron Nelson, he played in eight games, making 39 tackles and 12 tackles for a loss, according to MaxPreps. He had seven sacks on the season and one fumble recovery.

As a sophomore, he attended Summit High School in Fontanna, California. He is the third-highest rated recruit in the Fort Worth-area behind North Crowley’s John Meredith III, the top recruit in Texas, and Mansfield Summit’s Cameron Hall, who comes in at No. 11.
