Class 6A high school football: 100 elite players to keep an eye on from Dallas-Fort Worth

It’s almost time for Texas high school football season.

Class 6A schools are getting ready to compete with Texas’ toughest squads. Here are 100 players to watch from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Most players were nominated by area coaches.

Crowley

Caleb Williams, Sr., QB - Head coach Carlos Lynn said Williams sets the tone for the Eagle offense. Williams can extend plays and secure first downs on his legs. He threw for 3,131 yards and 36 touchdowns while running for 807 yards and seven touchdowns.

Derrick Tasby, Sr., WR - Tasby tallied 835 yards and 13 touchdowns as a junior. Lynn said he helped solidify the team’s offense, calling him a Swiss Army Knife that can be versatile in an offense. Lynn added he could have a breakout season.

Antayvious Ellis, Soph., WR - Ellis, a top receiver in the class of 2027, had an elite season as a freshman, tallying 719 yards and seven touchdowns. Lynn said the year of experience will be a huge building block for Ellis, who has gotten stronger and faster.

Kenyon Cotton, Soph., RB - Lynn said Cotton is expected to start at running back and solidify Crowley’s run game. Lynn said he is looking forward to him flashing his speed.

Jonathan Blake, Sr., FS/SS - Blake made 41 tackles and picked off three passes as a junior. Lynn said he is an anchor of the Crowley defense that exhibits great leadership.

Tamondre Bowie, Sr., DB - Bowie had 84 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss and three interceptions last year. Lynn called him a “heat seeking missile” that showcases great ability on the field along with stellar leadership.

North Crowley

Chris Jimerson Jr., Sr., QB - Jimerson, a four-year starter and a UNT commit, was named the Star-Telegram Player of the Year following a monster junior season where he tallied over 4,000 yards and scored 52 touchdowns. Head coach Ray Gates said he has done a great job leading the North Crowley offense and expects greatness every week.

Jonathan Cunningham, Sr., LB - Cunningham, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound machine, is committed to Texas. Expect him to be the focal point of a strong Panther defense.

Henry Fenuku, Sr., OL - Fenuku, a Missouri commit, is 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds. He will be a cornerstone of an offensive line unit Gates says is the emphasis of the program.

John Turntine III, Jr., OL - Turntine, a 6-foot-4, 305 pound four-star Texas commit, is one of the best junior offensive linemen in the entire nation. Expect him to lead the charge for North Crowley’s ground game.

Cornelius Warren, Sr., RB - Warren fought through injury in 2023 but still tallied 705 yards and 10 touchdowns. He’ll share carries this year, but expect him to be a contributor.

Daniel Bray, Sr., RB - Bray, an Abilene Cooper transfer, rushed for 1,359 yards and 22 touchdowns last year. Expect great things as he works behind an outstanding line. Gates expects him to be the fastest player on the field at all times; he ran a 10.38 second 100 meter dash.

Boswell

Kairel Robertson, Sr., WR - Robertson tallied 907 total yards and had 12 touchdowns last season. He is a top returning player in District 3-6A.

Brandon Seevers, Jr., LB - Seevers had a solid sophomore season, tallying 40 tackles and a sack. Expect him to be a focal point of the Pioneer defense this season.

Mansfield

Braxton Van Cleave, Sr., QB - Van Cleave is an elite baseball prospect but gets it done on the football field too. He passed for 1,601 yards and 15 touchdowns while adding 260 yards on his legs. With the move to District 3-6A, Van Cleave has the potential to make massive strides and compete for a playoff spot with Mansfield.

Jacobe Hayes, Sr., WR - Hayes, a UNT commit, totaled 635 yards and five touchdowns last season as a versatile offensive threat.

Zion Robinson, Jr., WR - Robinson had a stellar sophomore year with 409 yards and six touchdowns. He is a four-star with offers from TCU, Texas, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and more.

Keller Timber Creek

Carson Porter, Sr., QB - Porter had a terrific junior season, earning First Team All-District honors. He threw for 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Adrian Corley, Sr., WR - Corley made the First Team All-District squad last year. He tallied 398 yards and three touchdowns. Expect him to be a top receiver for Timber Creek this year.

Caleb Mendji, Sr., WR - Mendji made the All-District Second Team last year. Timber Creek’s staff said he might be the most competitive athlete on the team.

Tristen Armstrogn, Sr., LB - Armstrong is a three-year starter and a returning First Team All-District player. He had 39 tackles last year.

Logan Summers, Sr., LB/S - Similar to Armstrong, Summers is a three-year starter. He also received All-District honors. He made 74 tackles and picked off two passes.

Antwan Bridges, Sr., DB - Bridges is a three-year starter and led the Falcons with three interceptions last year. He also had 50 tackles.

Colin Vega, Jr., LB - Vega had limited varsity experience but had a huge off season, according to Timber Creek’s staff. He will play a “major role” in the Falcons’ defense this year.

Justin Northwest

Caleb Mormon, Sr., OL - Mormon brings experience as a three-year starter.

Charles Mugo, Sr., OL - Mugo brings the same veteran experience as Mormon as a three-year starter.

Jay Harrington, Sr., S - Harrington will be Northwest’s top safety this season. He made 51 tackles last season.

Tyler Singer, Jr., WR - Northwest’s staff expects Singer to be one of the team’s top targets as a junior.

Koby Wall, Jr., WR - Wall had a terrific sophomore year and is expected to build as a junior. He tallied 579 yards and five touchdowns on 46 receptions.

Nick Curley, Jr., CB - Northwest’s staff expects Curley to be a top cornerback for the team.

Ryder Norton, Sr., QB - Norton is a dual sport athlete, excelling on the baseball field. He is currently in a QB battle.

Trey Poe, Jr., QB - Poe is battling with Norton for the starting quarterback spot. He has a 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame and also plays baseball.

Mansfield Lake Ridge

Felix Ojo, Jr., OL - Ojo is one of the top offensive line recruits in the area. He is rated by 247Sports as a four-star prospect and has offers from Alabama, Baylor, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas and more.

Arlington Martin

Jesse Ford, Jr., DL - Ford is a four-star defensive lineman with offers from Baylor, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech and more. He had 37 tackles and seven sacks last year.

Brooks Birgance, Sr., ATH - Brigance is an all-around athlete. He is expected to continue playing quarterback this season after taking over the role last season. With a year of experience under his belt, Martin’s staff expects big things. In 2023, he passed for 1,044 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also ran for 1,251 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Arlington

Isaiah Robertson, SR., WR - Robertson, an SMU commit, leads a wide receiver group that the Arlington coaching staff said is the best they’ve had in over a decade. He had 472 yards and five touchdowns as a receiver. Robertson also ran for 209 yards and two touchdowns.

Caleb Olabode, Sr., OLB - Olabode is arguably Arlington’s top linebacker this season.

Elijah Ibiezugbe, Sr., OT - Ibiezugbe has a 6-foot-2, 290-pound frame and made the All-District Second Team as a junior. Expect him to be one of the leaders of Arlington’s offensive line.

Jack Phillips, Sr., DE - Phillips is a three-year varsity player with a 6-foot-2, 230-pound frame. Expect big things from him as a senior.

Tobi Akintade, Sr., DT - Akintade has a 6-foot-1, 290 pound frame. He’ll be one of the Colts’ top defensive lineman.

Coleman Cravens, Jr., QB - Cravens had a solid sophomore year, throwing for 555 yards and eight touchdowns. He can run a bit too, and tallied 269 yards and two touchdowns on his legs. He has a bit more experience, and is in position for a strong year surrounded by great receivers.

Jamar Burton, Jr., WR - As a sophomore, Burton tallied 396 total yards and three scores. He could make big strides with a more important role in the Colt offense.

Arlington Lamar

DeAnte Gentry, Sr., ATH - Gentry is a versatile athlete and is a two-way star for Lamar. As a running back, he gained 561 yards and scored 10 touchdowns. He also thrived on defense, recording an interception. He has offers from UNT, SFA and more.

Gannon Carey, Sr., QB - Carey had a solid year as a junior, throwing for 1,907 yards and 10 touchdowns. He is a threat on the ground too, and ran for 353 yards and three scores. He is in position to have a solid senior year.

Arlington Bowie

Larry “Tre” Nichols, Sr., QB - Nichols, an Ouachita Baptist commit, made the All-District Second Team last season. As a dual threat QB, he could lead Bowie to compete for a district title. He passed for 1,799 yards and 10 touchdowns last season and runs a 4.5 second 40 yard dash.

Jerimiah Brinson, Sr., MLB - Expect Brinson to be one of Bowie’s defensive leaders. He made 107 tackles last season.

Dilon Tallie, Sr., WR - Tallie, a three-star Bowling Green commit, is one of the best pass catchers in District 8-6A. He recorded 559 yards and three touchdowns as a junior.

Ian Mayes, Sr., OL - Mayes, a Tulsa commit, is one of the best lineman in the Fort Worth-area, and is 247Sports three-star prospect.

Mansfield Legacy

Xander Walker, Sr., TE/LB - Walker is a 6-foot-4, 230-pound Army commit and a two-way star for Legacy. He made 95 tackles as a junior.

Jaden Manning, Sr., LB - Manning is a three-star UNT commit with a 6-foot-1, 215 pound frame and a 4.5 second 40 yard dash.

Hurst L.D. Bell

AJ Rosen, Sr., K - Rosen is one of the best kickers in North Texas, and Bell’s staff said he is one of the team’s biggest strengths. He made the District 3-6A First Team as a junior with the ability to hit 40 plus yard field goals.

Christian Osae, Sr., DE - L.D. Bell’s staff said he will have a breakout year. As a junior, Osae made 31 tackles. He has a 6-foot-3, 242 pound frame.

Mason Erickson, Sr., SS/FS - Erickson is a dual sport athlete and a three-year starter for Bell. He brings experience to the defense. Last season, he had 61 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and two interceptions.

Southlake Carroll

Davis Penn, Jr., RB - Penn, a Baylor commit, is the 2023 Star-Telegram Newcomer of the Year. He earned the title with an elite sophomore season, running for 1,577 yards and 30 touchdowns. Expect him to have another monster season.

Riley Wormley, Sr., RB - One star running back is phenomenal, and Southlake Carroll operates with two. That’s a lot of firepower, which translates to a lot of yards. Wormley is a USC commit and ran for 913 yards and 20 touchdowns last year.

Angelo Renda, Jr., QB - Renda is the next Dragon quarterback, which brings high expectations. He’ll now share a legacy with Quinn Ewers, Graham Knowles and head coach Riley Dodge. Renda was the Dragons’ backup last year and saw some time in a few lopsided affairs.

Jack Van Dorselaer, Sr., TE - Van Dorselaer is a four-star Tennessee commit with a 6-foot-5, 230-pound frame. He can do it all; he is an elite blocker and pass catcher. He tallied 320 yards and seven touchdowns last season, improving as the year continued.

Trent Wilson, Sr., IOL - Wilson, a three-star JMU commit, is a team captain and one of the anchors of the Southlake Carroll offensive line. He has a 6-foot-3, 265 pound frame.

Brock Boyd, Jr., WR - Boyd, a TCU commit, could have a breakout year as a junior. He already was stellar as a sophomore, tallying 825 yards. He is 247Sports’ No. 60 ranked junior in Texas.

Byron Nelson

Tucker James, Sr., RB - James, an Army commit, was an All-District First Team member in 2023, rushing for 1,309 yards and 26 touchdowns. Head coach Travis Pride said he is elusive, strong and smart with a low center of gravity and a quick burst. He’ll carry a lot of offensive responsibility.

Leo Almanza, Sr., WR/DB - Almanza, a Baylor commit, is a versatile threat for Byron Nelson. He made 3 tackles and hauled in four interceptions as a defensive back. As a receiver, he tallied 504 yards and nine touchdowns. Pride said he is a very talented athlete who has maximized his potential and leads by example.

Grant Bizjack, Sr., QB - Bizjack is expected to take over at quarterback. Pride called him a competitor and said people will be surprised by his performance, comparing him to Johnny Manziel. Bizjack is “highly competitive” and is a proven winner at the freshmen and junior varsity levels. He isn’t a traditional drop back passer; expect him to run for first downs and extend plays on his feet.

Euless Trinity

Josh Bell, Sr., RB - Bell operates behind one of Texas’ best offensive lines. He was stellar as a junior, tallying 1,936 yards and 26 touchdowns.

TJ Tupou, Sr., QB - Tupou passed for 1,533 yards and 17 touchdowns and ran for 315 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior.

Keller

Kilian Registe, Sr., OT - With a massive 6-foot-6, 300-pound frame, Registe is a force for Keller’s offensive line. He is committed to play at the next level with the TCU Horned Frogs.

Beckham Robinson, Sr., QB - Robinson passed for 1,961 yards and 22 touchdowns, completing 64% of passes. Expect him to have another solid year with some more experience under his belt.

Andrew Jurasek, Sr., LB - Jurasek, an Air Force commit, is an All-District linebacker for Keller. He made 94 tackles and had five sacks last season. Jursaek is also a standout wrestler for the Indians.

Keller Central

Landon Smith, Sr., QB - Central’s staff said Smith showed great leadership this offseason while making progress with his game. He will be the primary quarterback this season after splitting reps as a junior. Central’s staff mentioned his leadership will be the “heartbeat of the team.”

Hayden Snow, Sr., ILB - Snow brings experience and is in position for a great senior year. He made 90 tackles and seven tackles for a loss. He forced five fumbles and picked off one pass.

Dakota Lewis, Sr., OL - Lewis is a bit undersized for an offensive lineman at 6-foot, but he is extremely productive. Central’s staff said he is a smart, physical and nasty player who understands football. He will set the tempo for the line as a center.

Jordan Brown, Sr., WR - Central’s staff said Brown is a “freaky athlete” with great hands. Central’s staff said his athleticism and knowledge will help him beat defenders and find holes in the defense.

Mason Caudle, Sr., WR - Caudle is a big, physical target with deceptive speed, great hands and a strong vertical. Central’s staff said he is one of the most underrated targets in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Brycen Bardin, Sr., DE - Bardin is a high motor player that is physical and smart. Central’s staff said he had a great spring and they are looking for it to carry over into the season.

Jake Richards, Sr., DE - Richards is a returning three-year letterman. He played tight end last season but is transitioning back to defensive end, where he has experience from his sophomore year. Central’s staff said his physical presence will cause havoc on opposing offensive lines.

Weatherford

Colton McClure, Sr., WR - McClure is a baseball prospect for the Roos, but he thrives on the football field as a receiver too. In 2023, he tallied 864 yards and nine touchdowns.

Haslet Eaton

Alijah Lash, Jr, DE - Lash has offers from 12 division one schools. As a sophomore, he was named the Defensive Newcomer of the Year in District 4-6A. Expect him to be a big time performer.

Talan Holmes, Sr., WR - Holmes is a two-year starter. He received All-District honors as a junior, tallying 492 yards and six touchdowns.

Mason Stubbe, Sr., QB - Stubbe is moving from wide receiver to quarterback. Eaton’s staff said he is “lightning in a bottle.” He will be able to make plays with his arm and his legs.

Karsten Robinson, Sr., WR/ATH - Robinson is a two-year starter at receiver but is expected to play both ways this year.

Chris Duharte, Jr., RB - Duharte had a stellar sophomore campaign, rushing for 578 yards and 10 touchdowns to earn All-District honors. Expect him to have another strong year.

Deonte Lewis, Sr., DT - Lewis is a two-year season. He is coming off an injury but had a great offseason, according to Eaton’s staff. He put on 30 pounds and has a 35 inch vertical.

Tristan Gable, Sr., C - Expect Gable to be the anchor of Eaton’s offensive line. He is a three-year starter. Eaton’s staff said he set “every strength record in the program.”

Coppell

Edward Griffin, Sr., QB - Griffin was named the District 5-6A MVP last year. He is a team captain and a Baylor commit. He threw for 3,400 yards and 48 touchdowns, completing 74% of passes. Coppell’s staff said is a leader of the offense and is in position for a great senior year.

Tucker Cusano, Sr., WR - Cusano, a Rice commit, earned Second Team All-District honors last year, tallying 900 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has a large frame at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds. Coppell’s staff said he has worked hard to become a complete wide receiver and strong route runner.

Harry Hassan, Sr., WR - Hassan earned First Team All-District and Newcomer of the Year honors for New Braunsfels Canyon, tallying 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns. Now, he’s taking his talents to Coppell. He is fast and explosive with offers from UAB, James Madison, Montana, Ball State, Central Michigan, Army, Air Force, Navy, and Semo.

Weston Polk, Sr., LB - Polk, a Kansas State commit, received First Team All-District honors last year. Coppell’s staff said Polk, a four-year starter, is the leader of the defense. He played safety but transitioned to linebacker. He is athletic, makes plays and covers a lot of the field.

Blake Isbell, Sr., DL - Isbell, a Tulsa commit, was named to the All-District First Team last season. He can play anywhere on the defensive line. Coppell’s staff said he is long and rangy with a high motor.

Alex Kraus, Sr., DB - Kraus, a Yale commit, was an All-District safety in 2023. He is physical, hits hard and has a nose for the ball, according to Coppell’s staff. He can also play wide receiver.

Scott Fishpaw, Sr., DB - Fishpaw had a strong junior season, earning All-District honors. He had six interceptions as Coppell’s “ball hawk.” He has an offer from the University of San Diego.

Denton Guyer

Kevin Sperry, Sr., QB - Sperry, an Oklahoma commit, is one of the top signal callers in the area. He passed for 2,564 yards and 31 touchdowns as a junior, playing for a high school in Oklahoma. Now, he’s back in Texas and is set up to have a monster season.

Jackson Shockley, Sr., TE - Shockley, a Tulsa commit, is one of the top tight ends in Texas. He has a 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame. He is a solid pass catcher that thrives in other areas.

Corbin Glasco, Jr., WR - Glasco is a returning starter that tallied 488 yards and six touchdowns on 43 receptions. He is a three-star recruit with offers from Kansas State, Notre Dame, UNT and more.

Kaedyn Cobbs, Jr., LB - Cobbs has a 6-foot-1, 190 pound frame. He has offers from Baylor, Oklahoma State, SMU, Texas Tech, Rice and more.

Xavier Ukponu, Sr., DL - Ukponu, a Wisconsin commit, has a 6-foot-3, 285 pound frame. Expect him to be a force on the Wildcat defensive line as a senior.

Flower Mound Marcus

Brock Golwas, Sr., LB/RB - Golwas, a Texas Tech commit, is an all-around star for the Marauders. He has the abillity to play multiple positions. He scored 10 touchdowns as a junior. On defense, he recorded 38 tackles.

Colton Nussmeier, Soph., QB - Nussmeier is one of the best underclassman quarterbacks in Dallas-Fort Worth. He is a 247Sports four-star prospect with offers from Baylor, SMU, TCU, Texas Tech and more.

Tony Lee, Sr., DL - Marcus’ coaching staff said he is the most underrated defensive lineman in the area. He has a 6-foot-2, 260 pound frame.

DeSoto

Ethan Feaster, Soph., WR - Feaster is one of DeSoto’s many star players. He is the No. 1 sophomore receiver in Texas and is arguably the best in the nation. He already has offers from Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and more.

Deondrae Riden Jr., Sr., RB - Riden Jr. is 247 Sports’ No. 38 senior in Texas. He’ll operate behind one of the best offensive lines in Texas. He was injured for some of last season, but will be a force when healthy. Head coach Claude Mathis expects Riden, a Texas A&M commit, to have a big season.

Daylon Singleton, Sr., WR - Singleton, an SMU commit, is a top receiver for DeSoto. He tallied 1,225 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior with Texas’ best offense.

Keylan Abrams, Sr., LB - Abrams, a three-star TCU commit, will be a main player within DeSoto’s defense. In 2023, he made 90 tackles and had 18 sacks.
