TCU guard Taylor Bigby became the record third Horned Frog taken in Monday’s WNBA draft, selected in the third round (No. 37 overall) by the expansion Portland Fire, then traded to the Connecticut Sun.
The Sun sent UConn center Serah Williams, the 33rd overall pick Monday, to the Fire for Bigby and a future third-round pick.
It’s the first time in program history the Horned Frogs have had three players drafted in a year. Before Monday, only three TCU players had ever been drafted — Hailey Van Lith and Madison Conner last year and Sandora Irvin in 2005.
Bigby played a key role in TCU’s rapid turnaround after transferring to Fort Worth ahead of the 2024-25 season from USC. The Las Vegan was a solid two-way wing in her first season, averaging 5.9 points, but she played her best basketball in her final season.
Bigby averaged a career-high 8.2 points per game and shot 38.9% from 3 while being one of TCU’s top perimeter defenders. Bigby helped the Horned Frogs reach two Elite Eights, win two regular-season Big 12 titles and a conference tournament championship in 2025.
Her postseason play likely played a huge role in her being drafted as she averaged 15 points and shot 48% from 3 during the Horned Frogs’ NCAA Tournament run.
At 6-foot-1, Bigby has the size to excel on the wing if she’s knocking down her jumper consistently.
