TCU football opens as big favorite at West Virginia, highest on road since 2020

Oddsmakers will be surprised if TCU football doesn’t start a winning streak this week.

The Horned Frogs opened as 15-point road favorites at West Virginia when Circa Sports in Las Vegas posted odds for Week 9 of college football on Sunday. The total opened at 57.5 and dipped to 57.

TCU (5-2, 2-2 Big 12) will play the Mountaineers (2-5, 0-4) at 5 p.m. Saturday in Morgantown, West Virginia. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Horned Frogs bounced back from a loss at Kansas State with a 42-36 victory over Baylor on Saturday at Amon G. Carter Stadium.

West Virginia has lost four straight, all by at least 14 points, including Saturday’s 45-13 drubbing at Central Florida.

TCU hasn’t been favored by this many points against an FBS opponent since closing as a 16-point favorite at home against Houston last season, according to the betting line archive at Covers. The Cougars stunned the Horned Frogs in a 30-19 upset.

TCU hasn’t been this big of a favorite on the road since laying 24 points at Kansas in 2020. The Horned Frogs covered the spread in a 59-23 victory.
