TCU notebook: Horned Frogs add another JUCO commit, but lose linebacker to transfer portal

The offseason continues to heat up for the TCU football program as the Horned Frogs added another commitment, but also lost another linebacker to the transfer portal.

On Monday, junior college safety Kollin Collier committed to TCU. Originally from Memphis, Collier played safety at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas.

Collier is the 29th commitment for Sonny Dykes in the 2025 recruiting class and the fourth JUCO prospect to commit to the program over the last week.

Ahead of Early National Signing Day on Wednesday, TCU currently has the No. 22 class in the country and the No. 1 class in the Big 12.

Another linebacker transfers

After Shad Banks announced his intention to enter the transfer portal, reports came out that Terrence Cooks Jr. would also be hitting the portal. On3 was the first to report Cooks’ transfer.

Cooks started his career at Texas and then transferred to TCU in 2022. He suffered a season-ending injury in the preseason and only played in five games in 2023.

Cooks had three tackles this season, all of them came in the win over Kansas. The Horned Frogs will have a lot of turnover in the linebacker room with the transfers of Banks and Cooks plus Namdi Obiazor and Johnny Hodges running out of eligibility.

However, TCU is projected to return Kaleb Elarms-Orr and promising young linebackers Max Carroll and Jonathan Bax. TCU also three three-star linebackers committed in the 2025 class.
