TCU

Where do the latest bowl projections have TCU playing in the postseason?

After finishing the regular season on a high note with a 20-13 win over Cincinnati, TCU will spend conference championship waiting for its bowl destination.

The Horned Frogs should find out their destination on Sunday when all of the bowl matchups are announced.

At 8-4, the Horned Frogs should be one of the more attractive teams available from the Big 12.

Internally, TCU is hoping to land in the TaxAct Texas Bowl in Houston on New Year’s Eve. It checks all the boxes with there already being an alumni base in Houston, it’s short trip from the Metroplex and it should come with a marquee matchup against a SEC team like LSU or Texas A&M.

But where do the experts have TCU landing after the win over Cincinnati? Here’s a look at the latest projections:

CBS Sports

Texas Bowl: Jerry Palm has TCU playing the LSU Tigers in Houston. This is ideally the best possible matchup for the Horned Frogs. Even if LSU has players opt out of the game, it’ll still be a chance for Sonny Dykes to add another signature win.

ESPN

Liberty Bowl: Both ESPN analysts Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach project TCU to play in Memphis on Dec. 27. Bonagura has the Horned Frogs playing Florida and former Texas five-star quarterback DJ Lagway. Schlabach has the Horned Frogs playing former Big 12 rival Oklahoma.

USA Today

Armed Forces: Erick Smith has TCU facing Navy on Dec. 27 at Amon G. Carter Stadium in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl. While it would be another home game for the Horned Frogs, it would be a bit of disappointment to not have a holiday road trip. The matchup against a team from the AAC is also a lackluster one.

Action Network

Rate Bowl: College football insider Brett McMurphy has TCU returning to Phoenix to play in the Rate Bowl against Rutgers. The Rate Bowl will be played at the Arizona Diamondbacks’s Chase Field on Dec. 26. McMurphy had TCU playing in the Armed Forces Bowl last week, but the win over the Bearcats moved TCU up the pecking order.

247Sports

Armed Forces Bowl: Another projection has TCU staying in Fort Worth on Dec. 27 and it’s another lackluster matchup with Brad Crawford projecting TCU to play East Carolina, which fired its head coach earlier this year.

SportingNews

Liberty Bowl: Another projection that has TCU headed to Memphis to face Florida on Dec. 27.

Athlon Sports

Liberty Bowl: Another projection that has TCU facing Oklahoma in Memphis.

KSLSports

Texas Bowl: The Utah-based outlet suggested two possible matchups for TCU with one being in the Texas Bowl against Arkansas on Dec. 31. The Razorbacks aren’t as a big of a brand as LSU or Texas A&M, but it would still be a fun matchup against a SEC school.

Armed Forces Bowl: In the second matchup TCU is projected to play East Carolina at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
