After impressing at NFL combine, TCU cornerback will undergo surgery before the draft
TCU cornerback Jeff Gladney will undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus following the NFL Scouting Combine, a source told the Star-Telegram.
Gladney initially injured the meniscus during TCU’s fall camp last August, but played through it at a high level. He finished his senior season with 31 tackles and 14 pass breakups, earning first-team All-Big 12 honors.
The surgery is considered a “simple fix” and Gladney should be ready when minicamps start this summer. Gladney is projected as a Day 2 pick, although some experts feel he could sneak into the first round of the NFL Draft.
Gladney performed well in Combine tests on Sunday considering his knee injury, running a 4.48-second 40-yard dash. That tied for 12th among cornerbacks at the Combine.
Gladney also had 17 reps on the 225-pound bench press and performed well in drills.
Gladney measured 5-foot-10, 191 pounds. There’s been a trend among NFL teams to prefer taller corners, but Gladney has drawn rave reviews for his playing style.
One NFL Draft analyst described Gladney as a “junkyard dog” on the field.
The NFL Draft is scheduled for April 23-25 in Las Vegas.
