What does Shaquille O’Neal think of Dallas Mavericks’ Cooper Flagg?

Cooper Flagg only played in two NBA 2K Summer League games before the Dallas Mavericks pulled their top draft pick from the Las Vegas event.

They had seen enough after the Mavericks forward scored 31 points Sunday during a 76-69 loss against the San Antonio Spurs, shooting 10-of-21 from the field with four rebounds and an assist.

What does NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal think of the Maverick’s forward so far?

O’Neal spoke highly of the rookie on Monday, July 14, during a charity event for his foundation and while promoting the product Icy Hot.

O’Neal mentioned how Flagg fits within the Mavericks organization.

“Great young man. I know both his parents very very well,” O’Neal said. “Everything about this city, this organization, it’s going to be the right place.”

O’Neal mentioned how important development was going to play a role in Flagg’s success.

“And then we’ll give him time to develop,” O’Neal said. “We all remember Dirk (Nowitzki) wasn’t Dirk when he first got here.”

O’Neal finished, stating once again how the Mavericks were a good fit for Flagg’s beginnings in the NBA.

“I think this is a great organization, a great town for him to start off his NBA career.”
