Warm, stormy Juneteenth weekend in store for North Texas. Here’s the latest
North Texas will start the Juneteenth holiday weekend with a chance of storms.
Storm chances begin late Thursday, June 18, mainly in areas west of Tarrant and Dallas counties, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. The better chances for storms in the Metroplex will be early Friday, June 19, as a cold front moves across the region.
Scattered storm chances will remain through Friday afternoon and evening. Lightning, strong winds and heavy rainfall will be the main threats with Thursday and Friday’s activity, per the NWS.
Heading into Saturday, June 20, some storms will stick around into midday before exiting later in the day. The sun will poke back out in full force on Sunday, June 21, with daily highs in the upper 90s and heat index values over 100 degrees.
Low storm chances will return late Sunday heading into early Monday, June 22.
Storms continue next week
A cold front will arrive early next week, bringing storm chances with it.
As of Thursday, the NWS is forecasting potential storms from Monday through Wednesday, June 24. Temperatures during those days will be in the low 90s.

- Friday, June 19- 91 degrees, 60% chance of storms during the day and 70% overnight
- Saturday, June 20- 92 degrees, 40% chance of storms during day
- Sunday, June 21- 97 degrees, 20% chance of storms overnight
- Monday, June 22- 93 degrees, 30% chance of storms during the day and 50% overnight
- Tuesday, June 23- 90 degrees, 30% chance of storms during the day and overnight
- Wednesday, June 24- 90 degrees, 30% chance of storms during the day
