Frenchman calls Waffle House an ‘indestructible fortress of violence and syrup’

The French influencer Eros Brousson strikes again – this time with Waffle House slander.

“Based on the name, I expected a cozy carbohydrate sanctuary,” he said on an Instagram video. “A wholesome temple of obesity where you inject syrup directly into your bloodstream and sleep into a peaceful television-induced coma.”

Instead, he considered the 70-year-old Southern chain “a yellow-tinted ecosystem that operates exclusively on prison rules.”

Brousson is an Austin resident and often posts satirical videos teasing Texas cliches and generalizations. He once called Fort Worth a “poverty cosplay.” On a visit to H-E-B, he referred to the store as the “ultimate Texas mega church.”

His Waffle House review implies he saw a fight break out at the 24-hour restaurant. Whether or not this is true, this is on par with the internet’s Waffle House stereotype.

He confirms, “We’ve all seen the viral videos. It’s always two blood-soaked men violently dismantling each other’s jawline beneath the buzzing neon sign while the waiter is just standing there folded in half like a cheap lawn chair, completely paralyzed on fentanyl and drooling in absolute silence.”

A Reddit thread dedicated to Waffle House fights explains that brawls actually erupting at the restaurant is more of a meme than a reality.

“It happens,” commented a Reddit user two months ago. “It’s a cheap restaurant open 24/7 and caters to people who are hammered drunk. You mix low cost, alcohol, and middle of the night, and you get some spicy events.”

Brousson jokingly stereotyped the Waffle House staffers as having active warrants, picking their nose with the spatulas and smoking cigarettes while battling third-degree grease burns.

“Even your federal government uses the Waffle House index to measure the destruction of a category 5 Hurricane,” he jokes.

While Brousson’s very French depiction of the southern chain painted it to be an “indestructible fortress of violence and syrup,” another foreign visitor had opposite things to say about Waffle House.

FreddyLA7 is from Germany and is traveling through America’s south for World Cup matches. He accrued more than seven million views on X for his positive Waffle House visit. “Great food, great prices, and friendly staff. 10/10, we will be coming back😋” he wrote.

Americans bantered in the comments asking him if he witnessed any fights.
