North Texas has finally reached triple digits for the first time this year.

The National Weather Service Fort Worth posted on X Tuesday, July 29 that a temperature of 100 degrees was recorded in the afternoon at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

This is the first time the Metroplex has reached triple digits this year, and the latest first occurrence of 100 degrees since 2019, when the temperature was recorded on July 30.

If North Texas failed to reach 100 degrees in July, it would have been the first time since 2007. On average, the region sees its first 100-degree day on July 1.

Triple-digit heat to continue

Tuesday is only the beginning of triple-digit temperatures this week.

The NWS is forecasting highs of 103 degrees on both Wednesday, July 30, and Thursday, July 31. Heat index values up to 106 degrees are possible on both days.

Several counties, including Tarrant and Dallas, remain under a heat advisory until 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Heading into the weekend, North Texas will see a slight reprieve from the heat as highs will stick around the mid to upper 90s. There will also be a low potential for storms over Saturday, Aug. 2, and Sunday, Aug. 3.
