Temperatures to warm up in North Texas as heat index values top 100 degrees

After a stormy start to the week, temperatures will soon heat up in North Texas.

Much of the Metroplex saw rain early Monday, July 14, with some areas receiving flash flood warnings, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. Storms will exit the region by the afternoon.

Isolated storm chances (20%) are in the mix for Tuesday, July 15, per the NWS. No severe weather is expected, however, lightning and brief heavy rain are possible.

By mid-week, storm chances will dissipate as temperatures begin heating up from the mid to upper 90s. Heat index values, also known as the “feels like” temperature, will be in the triple digits this week.

Warm and sunny weekend ahead

The sun will continue to shine heading into the weekend and temperatures stay warm.

Temperatures will stick around the upper 90s as heat index values cross into the triple digits again, according to the NWS.

Here’s a look at the next seven days of high temperatures in North Texas:

  • Monday, July 14- 92 degrees
  • Tuesday, July 15- 93 degrees
  • Wednesday, July 16- 94 degrees
  • Thursday, July 17- 96 degrees
  • Friday, July 18- 97 degrees
  • Saturday, July 19- 97 degrees
  • Sunday, July 20- 99 degrees
