Hail, strong winds could spoil weekend plans in North Texas. Here’s the latest
Potential for severe storms in North Texas is increasing heading into the weekend.
Conditions will be warm and sunny on Friday, June 6, and most of Saturday, June 7, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. Come Saturday night, thunderstorm complexes are expected to dip below the Red River into parts of the Metroplex.
More widespread storm coverage is likely late Sunday, June 8, into early Monday, June 9, according to the NWS. Temperatures over the weekend will be in the low to mid-90s.
Large hail and damaging winds will be the primary threats on both Saturday and Sunday nights, specifically along and north of the Interstate 20 corridor. The NWS said there could be a low tornado threat Saturday night, if storms develop in areas west of the Metroplex in counties like Jones and Taylor.
Storms continue next week
After a warm and rainy weekend, North Texans can expect continued storm chances next week.
A weak cold front will arrive Monday, bring multiple opportunities for rain next week, according to the NWS. A few strong to severe storms are possible, with the greater storm chances in the mix for Central Texas.
As of Friday, here’s how things are looking for next week:
- Monday, June 9- 86 degrees, 50% chance of storms
- Tuesday, June 10- 85 degrees, 50% chance of storms
- Wednesday, June 11- 85 degrees, 30% chance of storms
- Thursday, June 12- 86 degrees, 40% chance of storms
