Potential for severe storms in North Texas is increasing heading into the weekend.

Conditions will be warm and sunny on Friday, June 6, and most of Saturday, June 7, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. Come Saturday night, thunderstorm complexes are expected to dip below the Red River into parts of the Metroplex.

More widespread storm coverage is likely late Sunday, June 8, into early Monday, June 9, according to the NWS. Temperatures over the weekend will be in the low to mid-90s.

Large hail and damaging winds will be the primary threats on both Saturday and Sunday nights, specifically along and north of the Interstate 20 corridor. The NWS said there could be a low tornado threat Saturday night, if storms develop in areas west of the Metroplex in counties like Jones and Taylor.
