Rain, thunderstorms in the mix for North Texas. See the weekly forecast
After a rainy Memorial Day, on and off storm chances will persist in North Texas for much of the week.
The National Weather Service Fort Worth recorded 2.15 inches of rain at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport on Memorial Day (May 26), per climate data. Mineral Wells had among the highest rainfall totals locally from Memorial Day storms, with 2.82 inches of rain recorded.
Storms are in the mix for Central Texas late Tuesday, May 27, and overnight into Wednesday, May 28. There’s a low chance (20-30%) for storms in North Texas on both days, with rain and thunderstorms as the main weather events.
A cold front will arrive Thursday, May 29, bringing additional thunderstorm development to the region, according to the NWS. A few strong to severe storms may occur, with small hail and strong winds as the main threats.
Dry and sunny weekend ahead
Heading into the weekend, the NWS forecast is showing dry and sunny skies.
Temperatures over the weekend will be in the low to upper 80s, with mostly sunny skies overhead. Overnight lows over the weekend will be in the low 60s to low 70s.
