Hail, damaging winds possible in Fort Worth. Here’s when severe storms arrive
There’s potential for multiple rounds of strong to severe weather in North Texas this week.
Scattered thunderstorms will develop in West Texas on Monday, April 28, in the afternoon and move into northwest Texas in the evening, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. These storms are expected to weaken as they push into the North Texas region, but there could still be a severe threat with large hail and damaging winds.
The higher chance for severe storms will be on Tuesday, April 29.
Timing for these storms will be Tuesday evening into the overnight hours, as storms will once again develop out west and spread into the Metroplex. The main threats will be large hail and damaging winds and, according to the NWS, an isolated tornado can not be ruled out.
Storm chances continue midweek
Storms and widespread showers will continue on Wednesday, April 30.
The higher severe storm potential will be Wednesday afternoon into the evening, with large hail and damaging winds as the main threats. A couple of tornadoes are also possible, according to the NWS.
Flash flooding will also be a concern Wednesday, due to the multiple rounds of rain this week. Average rainfall amounts through Wednesday could be between 1 to 3 inches.
More storms are likely Thursday, May 1, through Saturday, May 3. As of now, the severe threat will be low, however, the NWS said there will be a flash flooding threat due to the already saturated soil in some areas.
