More storms expected in Fort Worth this week. Here’s the latest forecast
After an active weekend, multiple rounds of showers and storms are in the forecast for North Texas this week.
The National Weather Service Fort Worth confirmed one tornado in Erath County and three in Jack County over the weekend. There was an EF-1 tornado in Erath County, plus two EF-0’s and one EF-1 in Jack County.
In addition, there were reports of possible tornadoes in Parker County, which NWS crews are still assessing. Rainfall totals over the weekend were higher in northwestern counties such as Jack and Montague, including 9.53 inches in the city of Nocona.
This week, North Texans can expected a warm and sunny Monday, April 21, before storms return midweek.
Storms Chances Return Midweek
Storm chances return Tuesday, April 22, as a warm front will move against a dryline.
The NWS said whatever forms off the dryline and moves east could bring strong to severe storms Tuesday. As of Monday, the exact location of the dryline remains uncertain, as does the potential impact on the region.
What’s more certain this week is that an active weather pattern will bring multiple rain chances for the Metroplex from Wednesday, April 23, through Sunday, April 27.
Some strong to severe storms are possible this week, with most areas expected to record at least 1 inch of rain and average totals between 1 to 3 inches, according to the NWS. Flooding will be a threat later in the week due to the multiple rounds of heavy rain.
