Hail and damaging winds are possible in North Texas over Easter weekend.

Multiple rounds of severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are expected from late Friday, April 18, to early Sunday, April 20, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth.

Thunderstorm chances will begin Friday evening across northwestern parts of the Metroplex, including Jack and Young counties. Storms will continue to spread into the Interstate 35 corridor overnight and early Saturday, April 19, according to the NWS.

By Saturday afternoon and evening, another round of widespread thunderstorms are expected to develop across much of the region. Storms are expected to continue overnight Saturday and begin exiting the region over Sunday afternoon.

Hail and damaging winds are the primary threats with these storms, along with a low tornado threat, according to the NWS.

Heavy rainfall likely, flash flooding possible

Average rainfall totals across parts of the Metroplex are expected to be between 1.5 to 2.5 inches from late Friday to Sunday.

Areas north of Interstate 20 could see isolated amounts near 3 inches, which could result in flash flooding. The NWS is asking residents to use extra caution at low water crossings and in areas of poor drainage, such as construction sites.
