Big changes coming to Fort Worth weather this weekend, including chance of thunderstorms
North Texas is starting the weekend chilly and dreary, but the forecast is about to change.
A weather system is bringing moisture into Dallas and Fort Worth on Friday, Dec. 13, leading to patchy drizzle and cool temperatures in the upper 50s, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. Then it will get much warmer this weekend before we may seen a good chance of thunderstorms.
As of right now, there isn’t any winter weather in the immediate forecast for North Texas. Beyond next week, here’s what we know so far about the chance of snow (or ice) on Christmas in Fort Worth.
Weekend weather forecast for Fort Worth
Showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop Friday evening and continue into early Saturday, Dec. 14. By Saturday afternoon, storms will move east out of North Texas, and sunny skies will give way to highs in the low 70s.
Severe storms are not expected Saturday or Sunday, but more rain and thunderstorms are on the horizon.
When will thunderstorms move into North Texas?
An active weather pattern will kick off the week starting late Sunday.
Rain chances return to the forecast Sunday night. Showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop on Monday, Dec. 16, according to the National Weather Service.
Strong and severe storms are not expected at this time.
There will be a reprieve from the rain on Tuesday, Dec. 17, ahead of more showers returning to the forecast on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
Temperatures through early next week will range from the upper 50s to low 70s.

- Friday, Dec. 13: 60 degrees
- Saturday, Dec. 14: 69 degrees
- Sunday, Dec. 15: 71 degrees
- Monday, Dec. 16: 67 degrees
- Tuesday, Dec. 17: 63 degrees
- Wednesday, Dec. 18: 57 degrees
- Thursday, Dec. 19: 51 degrees
