After a cool and dry Thursday, more rain ahead this weekend in Dallas-Fort Worth

Many North Texans woke up to rainy weather on Wednesday, Dec. 4, a first for the past couple weeks.

Scattered showers and storms are expected in the region through Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth.

A few isolated thunderstorms are possible Wednesday, however, severe weather is not expected, per the NWS. Temperatures will stick around the mid-50s on Wednesday, with showers periodically ending as the day continues.

Before Wednesday, the region last recorded measurable rainfall on Nov. 18, according to NWS climate data.

Rain to return over the weekend

After a dry and cool Thursday, Dec. 5, rain returns to the Dallas-Fort Worth forecast this weekend.

A slow-moving weather system will bring showers and isolated thunderstorms to the region late Friday, Dec. 6, according to the NWS. Showers and storms will stick around through Saturday, Dec. 7, and into Sunday, Dec. 8.

Rainfall totals over the weekend are expected to range from 0.5 to 1.5 inches across Dallas-Fort Worth, according to the NWS. Temperatures over the next few days will range from the low 50s to low 60s.
