Isolated storms in the mix for Dallas-Fort Worth as Hurricane Francine nears landfall
Tropical showers and storms are in the mix for Dallas-Fort Worth on Wednesday due to Hurricane Francine.
Francine is expected to make landfall on the Louisiana coastline late Wednesday afternoon or evening, according to the National Hurricane Center. The storm’s path is projected to move north through Louisiana and Mississippi over the next few days.
Back in Dallas-Fort Worth, the only impact Francine will have on the region is bringing isolated to scattered tropical storms and showers, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth.
Storms are expected to develop in the afternoon hours over portions of North and Central Texas.
The best chance of storms will develop along and east of Interstate 35E, the NWS said. Precipitation coverage is expected to decrease later Wednesday evening.
Hurricane Francine to make landfall Wednesday
Earlier storm tracking from the National Hurricane Center showed that Francine might pass through southeast Texas when it made landfall this week.
However, the latest tracking shows the storm’s path making landfall on the Louisiana coastline Wednesday and continuing north through the state and Mississippi over the next couple days.
Francine is expected to bring heavy rainfall and risk of flash flooding to southeastern Louisiana, Mississippi, southern Alabama and the Florida panhandle through Thursday night.
