Prepare for sweater weather this weekend in Dallas-Fort Worth. Temps could drop below 70
Dallas-Fort Worth will continue cooling off this weekend, with temperatures in the low to mid 80s.
After recording 15 days over 100 degrees in August, September has been much cooler in North Texas. This week started with several days of rain and temperatures ranging from low 80s to low 90s.
This weekend North Texans can expect sunny skies and temperatures in the low to mid 80s, said Patricia Sanchez, meteorologist at the National Weather Service Fort Worth office.
There’s a 20% chance of rain for the region on Friday and temperatures will be right around 90 degrees. By the afternoon, a cold front will start making its way across North Texas.
Saturday will be sunny and cool with temperatures in the mid 80s, Sanchez said. Sunday will be a little bit cooler as temperatures dip into the low 80s.
Overnight Saturday into early Sunday morning, lows are expected to be in the low 60s. Sunday night into Monday morning is also expected to be in the low 60s.
If North Texas does reach the low 60s over the weekend, it will be the first time since June, Sanchez said.
Rain chances return next week
After a cool weekend, temperatures will increase slightly going into early next week.
Temperatures for most of the week will fluctuate from the mid to upper 80s, Sanchez said. Rain chances also return next week.
The National Hurricane Center is tracking several possible tropical disturbances in the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. While these disturbances are not expected to impact North Texas, the region could see some moisture come its way from the storms, Sanchez said.
For now, Wednesday and Thursday are each showing a 20% chance of rain.
