2022 Texas primaries

Early voting begins Monday in Texas, with races for top county and state officials on the Republican and Democratic primary tickets.

It’s time to head to the polls, as early voting for the March 1 Democratic and Republican primaries begins Feb. 14 and runs through Feb. 25.

In Tarrant County, three lawmakers are not seeking reelection to the Texas Legislature, and there are open seats for Tarrant County judge and criminal district attorney. The midterm ballot also includes heated races for governor and attorney general.

Some voters may also find themselves in new state and congressional districts after lawmakers drew new political maps,

If no candidate gets more than half the vote, the top two will advance to a runoff on May 24.

The Star-Telegram sent questionnaires to candidates in the biggest contested races.
