2 dead in apparent kayaking accident in east Fort Worth, police say

Two adults were found dead in an east Fort Worth pond Wednesday morning in an apparent kayaking accident, police said.

Officers were called to a water emergency in a pond on private property near 3100 Cooks Lane about 11:20 a.m. They found an overturned kayak with two people, according to police.

Medical personnel tried to save the people, but both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said one of the drowning victims was around 60 years of age and the other around 20. They will be publicly identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

It’s not yet clear what factors led up to the accident, according to police.
