A woman who was threatening people with a rifle inside an Arlington home was arrested Monday morning after a standoff, police said.

Arlington police officers responded to a disturbance call about 7 a.m. in the 300 block of Orange Street, police said in a news release.

Police said a 911-caller reported that a woman they knew was threatening people at the home with a rifle.

When officers arrived they contacted the two individuals by phone and safely got them out of the home, police said. Investigators determined that the armed woman and her boyfriend remained inside the residence.

Officers then contacted the armed woman, who has not been identified, by phone and negotiated with her to surrender, police said.

The woman exited the home and was taken into custody without incident. Her boyfriend also exited safely and no injuries were reported, according to police.

Police have not shared further details about what charges the woman faces.
