60-year-old man fatally shot in fight at west Fort Worth apartments, police say

Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a 60-year-old man who was found on a staircase at a west Fort Worth apartment complex on Monday morning.

Fort Worth police officers were called to the shooting scene in the 6500 block of Tomstock Drive shortly after 8 a.m. They found the victim with a gunshot wound to his upper body, a police spokesperson said.

Medical personnel were unable to resuscitate the man, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the shooting victim as Keith Charles Carter.

Carter died from a gunshot wound to his head and neck, according to the medical examiner.

The initial investigation found the victim was involved in an argument and physical fight with a witness when an unidentified person shot him. The shooter fled the scene and has not been arrested, police said.
