Drunken driver hit, killed woman walking on Fort Worth service road, police say

Two people walking on a highway service road in west Fort Worth were struck on Sunday night by a pickup truck driven by a drunken man, police said.

The pedestrians were hit at about 9:45 p.m. on a Benbrook Boulevard service road near Kermit Avenue, Fort Worth police said.

One of the two pedestrians, Abigail Juarez, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. Juarez was 32.

The other pedestrian, a man, was taken in critical condition to a hospital by ambulance.

Alfredo Parra, the man police said was driving the pickup, remained at the scene after the collision. Police arrested Parra, 33, on suspicion of intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle.

A police department spokesperson did not release other information about the circumstances of the collision.
