Seguin High School was placed on lockdown Monday after a student threatened to shoot up the school, Arlington police say. The suspect, who had a weapon, was found and arrested off-campus.

A student who threatened to shoot up an Arlington high school Monday has been arrested, officials said.

Officers were dispatched to Seguin High School, at 7001 Silo Road, shortly before noon for a “shooting in progress” call, although no shots were fired. Police said a student had threatened to shoot people at the school. Seguin High was placed on lockdown while officers tried to locate the suspect, according to police.

The student was found with a weapon off-campus and was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center, officials said. The student had not returned to campus and no one was injured. Police did not release the name, age or other details about the juvenile suspect.

Two nearby schools, Pearcy STEM Academy and Ashworth Elementary School, were told to shelter in place during the police activity, Seguin High School officials said in a social media post.

Threats were made against two other high schools in the area last week, according to Arlington police and Arlington ISD officials.

Arlington High School was placed on lockdown Aug. 21 and Lamar High School on Aug. 22 while police investigated threats against the campuses. No credible threats were found, officials said.
