Four people, including two children, were found dead at an Allen home Monday morning in an apparent murder-suicide, police say.

Four people, including two children, were found dead in their North Texas home Monday in an apparent murder-suicide, Allen police said.

Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Aberdeen Drive in Allen around 8:45 a.m. in response to a welfare concern call, officials said. A relative notified police that they had been locked out of their house for about two hours and family members inside were not answering the door.

When officers entered the residence, they found four people who were dead. Police told KDFW-TV that the victims were shot and identified the dead as a father and mother Farman Sherwani and Layla Sherwani and their 12-year-old son Shaheen Sherwani and 2-year-old son Mateen Sherwani. Police did not say which person is suspected of killing the others.

Police told KDFW that the couple’s 4-year-old daughter, Lyian Sherwani, drowned earlier this month and investigators believe the girl’s death was a factor in the triple murder and suicide.

The Allen Independent School District confirmed to KDFW-TV that one of the victims, Shaheen, was in the fifth grade at Olson Elementary.

School officials told parents in a note Monday evening that a student had died unexpectedly, KDFW reported. Counselors were available to help students at Olson Elementary on Tuesday.

The Islamic Association of Allen will hold a service Tuesday evening for the four family members along with a healing circle where counselors will be present to help members of the community cope with their grief, according to the association’s Facebook page.

Allen police are investigating the killings, officials said.

Allen is in Collin County, about 50 miles northeast of Fort Worth.
