Arlington high schools lock down as police investigate threatening calls 2 days in a row

A day after Arlington High School was placed on lockdown Monday afternoon while police investigated a threatening phone call, Lamar High School was briefly locked down for the same reason Tuesday morning.

Lamar High was locked down at 8:17 a.m. Tuesday after a phone threat was made against the campus, an Arlington ISD spokesperson said in an emailed statement. Arlington police immediately responded to investigate, and at 8:49 a.m. police determined that the threat was not credible and the lockdown was cleared, the school district said.

On Monday, officers arrived at the Arlington High School campus shortly before 2 p.m., police said on social media.

About 2:45 p.m., police said officers had finished searching in and around Arlington High and did not find any credible threats.

In an update about 2:50 p.m. Monday, the school district said that because police had completed their investigation, the lockdown had been lifted.

“Students and staff are being released room-by-room and should be completed by dismissal at 3 p.m.,” Arlington ISD said in an emailed statement Monday. “No disruption to bus service is expected.”
