Pedestrian killed by suspected drunken driver identified as Fort Worth man

A pedestrian killed Friday afternoon by a suspected drunken driver has been identified as Cornelius Davis of Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office website on Monday.

Davis, 63, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 2300 block of South Riverside Drive, authorities said. He died a short distance from his home, according to the medical examiner’s website.

A ruling on his death pending an autopsy.

He was one of two pedestrians hit by a vehicle, Fort Worth police said. The other pedestrian was seriously injured, but survived.

The driver, Abel Gonzales, 23, was arrested Friday shortly after the accident, Fort Worth police said. He faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

The pedestrians and several parked vehicles were hit about 4:30 p.m. Friday on South Riverside Drive, police said.

Gonzales, the car’s only occupant, remained at the scene after the Friday afternoon incident, police said.
