Driver booked on suspicion of intoxication manslaughter in man’s death in Fort Worth

A drunken man driving a car struck two people Friday afternoon in Fort Worth, killing one of them, police alleged.

The pedestrians and several parked vehicles were hit about 4:30 p.m. at South Riverside Drive and East Jessamine Street, police said.

One of the pedestrians was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other was taken with serious injuries to a hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening, a MedStar spokesman said.

The sedan’s driver, Abel Gonzales, 23, was arrested on suspicion of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle, according to a police booking log.

Authorities had not released the victims’ names and ages Friday night.

Gonzales, the car’s only occupant, remained at the scene, police said.
