Pedestrian struck, killed while trying to cross Fort Worth highway, police say

A pedestrian was killed Saturday when he was struck by a vehicle as he tried to cross Mansfield Highway in Fort Worth, police said.

The victim, a male whose name and age authorities had not released Saturday night, was hit about 7:30 p.m. on the highway near Shackleford Street, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police traffic unit detectives were investigating, and the department did not describe the vehicle or release other information about the death.
