Woman dies after she falls into Fort Worth street, car runs over her, police say
A 60-year-old woman died days after she fell in the middle of a west Fort Worth street and was run over by a driver who stated he was unable to see her, police said.
Glenda B. Jimenez, of Fort Worth, died Sunday night of blunt-force injuries at John Peter Smith Hospital, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. Her death was classified as an accident.
No charges have been filed.
She was struck Thursday morning in the 9200 block of North Normandale Street, police said. A MedStar spokesman said the crash was reported around 9:35 a.m.
An officer who responded to the scene spoke with a witness who said he was riding on a bus when he saw the woman walking toward him before she fell down in the street, according to police.
A vehicle was driving north on North Normandale Street and turned left onto Dawn W, the witness told police. The vehicle ran over the pedestrian’s legs, police said, and pulled over to the side of the road.
The officer spoke with the driver, who said he was turning left and felt like he ran over something, according to police. He told the officer he didn’t see the pedestrian.
After he stopped, however, he saw the woman lying in the street, police said.
She was transported to JPS Hospital, where she died days later.
