Grapevine man accused of fatally stabbing a man who had been dating his mother

A 21-year-old Grapevine man was in custody Friday, accused in a New Year’s Day killing in Grapevine, authorities said.

Grapevine police identified the suspect as Antonio Bigham, who detectives said knew the victim.

Bigham was arrested Wednesday in Dallas and then brought to Grapevine.

Bigham was in the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth on Friday and faces a charge of murder in the killing of 35-year-old Omar Gonzalez.

A resident of Wildwood Creek Apartments in Grapevine discovered Gonzalez’s body in a wooded area near his apartment at about 9:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

Gonzalez died from injuries after being stabbed in the chest, Grapevine police said.

Detectives used evidence from the scene and interviews with the victim’s and suspect’s acquaintances to identify Bigham as the suspect, Grapevine police said.

Gonzalez had been dating Bigham’s mother and the three lived in an apartment about a block away from where the victim’s body was discovered, Grapevine police said.

A motive for the killing was unknown, Grapevine police said.

Bigham was in jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
