Man found near Grapevine apartments died from ‘sharp force injuries,’ authorities say
A man found lying in a wooded area near a Grapevine apartment complex on New Year’s Day died from “sharp force injuries,” according to a ruling by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Officials at the medical examiner’s office also identified the victim as Omar Deleon Gonzalez, 35, who had addresses in Bedford and Grapevine.
Gonzalez’s death was ruled a homicide, but Grapevine police did not release any other details on Friday.
“At this time we have been interviewing acquaintances of the victim to develop information related to the case,” said Grapevine police Lt. Barry Bowling in a telephone interview with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Friday. “No arrest has been made as of yet.”
Gonzalez’s body was found about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Wildwood Creek Apartments, 820 E. Dove Loop Road in Grapevine.
A resident of the complex looked out his window Wednesday morning and saw a man lying face down outside. The resident called 911.
Once they arrived, paramedics determined the man was dead at the scene.
Grapevine detectives did not believe the victim lived in the complex nor do they believe any other residents are in danger.
