Southlake high school student dies from injuries after being struck by vehicle

A senior at Carroll Senior High School has died from her injuries after she was hit by a vehicle as she tried to cross West Southlake Boulevard in Southlake, authorities said.

No other injuries were reported in the accident, which occurred about 8:30 p.m. Monday at Shady Oaks Drive and West Southlake Boulevard.

Sarah Lacy of Southlake died Wednesday from her injuries following the accident, according to school officials.

The driver who hit the teen stopped immediately, and no charges are expected to be filed against him, said Southlake police spokesman Brad Uptmore on Thursday.

Lacy and a friend were at an intersection when they attempted to cross the highway, Southlake police said. Both made it to a median, but Lacy continued across the highway when she was struck.

Her friend had stopped at the median, Southlake police said.

Southlake police said vehicles had a green light at the time of the accident.

Lacy was a member of the school’s choir and theatre programs. She also has brother who is in the ninth-grader at Carroll High School, according to school officials.

“Sarah will be greatly missed,” according to an email sent Wednesday night by school officials to families in the district. “Please keep the Lacy family and all of Sarah’s teachers, directors and many friends in your thoughts and prayers.”

Counselors will be available to help students and school staff members.

Funeral services for Lacy have been set for 4:30 p.m. Monday at 121 Community Church, 2701 Ira E. Woods Ave. in Grapevine.
