Woman walking along Interstate 20 in Arlington struck, killed by hit-and-run driver
A woman was killed early Wednesday when she was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on an Arlington highway, police said.
The victim was identified as Celina Nichol Giunta, 43, of Crowley, according to a Tarrant County medical examiner’s website. She died from blunt force trauma and her death was ruled an accident.
Arlington police responded to the fatal incident about 12:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 near Matlock Road in Arlington.
Motorists had reported seeing a woman walking along the shoulder of the highway.
An Arlington patrol officer had even seen the woman walking and had turned around to check on her when he discovered she had been hit, according to KXAS-TV.
The driver who hit the woman fled the scene, Arlington police said.
Arlington police are asking for help to identify the hit-and-run driver.
