‘Visibly nervous’ knife-wielding robber steals money, gold coins from Southlake business
A “visibly nervous” man brandished a knife and stole an undisclosed amount of money and gold coins Friday morning from a Southlake business, Southlake police said.
Southlake police released photographs of the suspect Friday afternoon in hope that someone would recognize the man and contact authorities. The photos were from a store surveillance camera.
The robbery occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m. Friday at Dallas Gold & Silver, 200 North Kimball Ave. in Southlake.
The man walked into the business carrying a black folder with his own gold coins, saying he wanted to transfer them for silver, Southlake police said.
Employees told police the man was so “visibly nervous” that he started shaking.
At some point, the man pulled a knife out of a holster/pouch on his belt, threatened employees and took money from a register. He ordered employees to open a safe and took more cash from there.
Before he fled the business, the man grabbed some gold coins.
The man jumped into a silver Toyota Tacoma with no back license plate and drove away.
Employees described the man as about 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He was wearing a red and black Dodge Ram baseball hat and a blue jacket.
Employees told Southlake detectives the man came into the business on Thursday, wearing the same outfit. The man also was “super nervous” on Thursday and asked about buying coins for gifts.
He spoke with a Russian accent, Southlake police said.
Anyone with information should call Southlake police at 817-748-8915.
