Man killed after pickup hits pole near Northeast Loop 820 service road in Hurst
A Houston man died Thanksgiving morning from injuries he suffered in a single-vehicle accident on a Hurst service road, according to Hurst police and the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office website on Friday.
The victim was identified as Paul Edward Askew, 52, who was pronounced dead at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at a Fort Worth hospital, according to the medical examiner’s website. He died from blunt-force injuries and his death was ruled an accident.
Askew was a passenger in the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle was seriously injured in the crash and he was taken to a local hospital, Hurst police said Friday. His condition was not available Friday.
Hurst police responded to the major accident shortly after 9:30 a.m. Thursday on a service road in the 700 block of Northeast Loop 820 in Hurst.
The vehicle, which Hurst police say was a pickup truck, veered off the service road for some unknown reason and collided with a pole. A slick road may have been a factor in the crash because rain had fallen in the city on Thursday morning.
