After a warm and potentially rainy weekend, North Texas will return to triple digit temperatures next week.
Storms chances are low for North Texas on Friday but will grow as we head into the weekend, with a 20 to 30% chance of showers on Sunday, said Patricia Sanchez, meteorologist at the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office.
Temperatures will hover around the mid and upper 90 degrees this weekend, giving way to much hotter days next week.
“It’s July, so we’re getting there,” Sanchez said.
Things will warm up Monday in the upper 90s, followed by triple digit temperatures Tuesday through Friday.
The heat index will climb over the triple digit mark as well. It is expected to flirt with 110 on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by 111 degrees on Thursday.
As the temperatures rise next week, the NWS will likely announce a heat advisory, Sanchez said.
