A man was hospitalized after an accidental shooting at an Arlington Costco parking lot Monday afternoon, police said.

Officers responded to the Costco parking lot in the 600 block of W. Arbrook Blvd about 3:50 p.m. to investigate the accidental shooting, police said in a statement.

When paramedics arrived they found a 42-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The man told officers he was carrying a gun in a satchel and that it fired while he was reaching for his wallet inside the bag, striking him, according to police.

Police said there were no other injuries reported and no criminal charges were filed.
