Tarrant County reports 20 more COVID deaths, 1,430 new cases
Tarrant County reported 20 COVID-19 deaths and 1,430 new cases on Wednesday.
The county has reported 105 COVID-related deaths in the past week.
The latest pandemic-related deaths include a Fort Worth man in his 20s, a Fort Worth man in his 30s, an Arlington woman in her 40s, a Fort Worth man in his 50s, a River Oaks man in his 50s, a Lake Worth man in his 60s, two Fort Worth men and a woman in their 60s, two North Richland Hills men in their 60s, a Haltom City woman in her 70s, two Fort Worth men in their 70s, a North Richland Hills woman in her 70s, a Keller man in his 70s, a Grand Prairie woman in her 70s, a North Richland Hills woman in her 80s, a Fort Worth man in his 80s, and a Richland Hills woman in her 80s.
All 20 had underlying health conditions, according to officials.
The county has reported 329,527 COVID-19 cases, including 4,047 deaths and an estimated 292,244 recoveries.
COVID-19 hospitalizations
Hospitalized COVID patients increased by four to 1,183. The pandemic high was 1,528 on Jan. 6.
COVID-19 hospitalizations decreased to 25% from 26% of the total number of beds in Tarrant County and make up 28% of the 4,214 occupied beds. The rate was at a pandemic-high 38% on Jan. 10.
Confirmed COVID patients increased slightly to 22.21% from 22.18% of all available hospital beds in the North Central Texas Trauma Region, which includes 45 counties (divided into three regions).
Hospital beds
Tarrant County’s hospital bed occupancy decreased to 89% from 91%, according to county data. Available hospital beds increased by 113 to 495. The pandemic low was 382 on Tuesday.
ICU beds
Adult ICU bed occupancy decreased to 96% from 97%. The pandemic high was 99% on Dec. 28. Ventilator use decreased by two to 367. Patients are using 48% of the 760 ventilators in the county.
Positivity rate
The COVID-19 testing positivity rate for Tarrant County increased to 22.47% from 22.39% in the latest available seven-day average data. The rate was last at a pandemic-high 30% on Jan. 7.
Vaccination data
According to Texas Department of State Health Services, 65.38% of Tarrant County residents 12 or older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 56.74% of residents 12 or older have been fully vaccinated.
DSHS also reports that 86.64% of Tarrant residents 65 or older have received at least one dose, and 79.91% of residents 65 or older have been fully vaccinated.
More than 70.15% of Texas residents 12 or older have received at least one dose, according to DSHS. Fully vaccinated Texas residents 12 or older are at 59.33%.
Tarrant County officials are offering free COVID-19 vaccines and testing at locations throughout the area.
