New details on plans for a long-awaited Target in suburban Fort Worth: Coming soon?
Fort Worth’s newest Target is one step closer to breaking ground.
Initial construction permits for the store, which will be built at the northwest corner of McPherson Boulevard and Chisholm Trail Parkway, were filed with the city on March 13.
The over 145,000-square-foot store is expected to cost $22 million to build. The project has been in the works since late 2023.
It is unclear when construction will begin. Target plans to announce the store’s opening closer to its completion. The new location will be “tailored to serve local guests.”
“We’re excited to bring an easy, affordable and convenient shopping experience to new guests in the Fort Worth community with this new Target store,” a spokeswoman for the company said.
The company has five stores in Fort Worth, as well as locations in Lake Worth, Hurst, Watauga and Arlington.
Target is the latest big box store to expand along the Chisholm Trail Parkway, a hot spot for new retail development.
H-E-B purchased land at the northeast corner of Chisholm Trail Parkway and McPherson Boulevard in 2023, though the company has not yet announced plans to build on the property.
BJ’s Wholesale Club is building its first Texas store off of the busy throughway. Hundreds of apartments are also planned for the area.
