Traffic along Bonds Ranch is a perk for new Kroger location, leaders say
Representatives for the new Bonds Ranch Road Kroger Marketplace said the traffic may be a benefit for the newest store in town.
Located at 113 E. Bonds Ranch Road, the 123,000-square-foot grocery store is right off the two roundabouts east of U.S. 287.
“The traffic is definitely a plus for us because do you want to sit in traffic, or would you want to come in and shop at Kroger while you let the traffic die down a little bit?” said John Votava, Kroger’s director of corporate affairs. “That (traffic) shows us that there is a constant flow through this area, and that it’s going to be a very viable opportunity for us to build a store.”
After owning the land since 2018, Kroger built the $40 million Marketplace storefront because of the area’s “explosive” growth, said Rudy DiPietro, Kroger’s Texas division president.
The area, which used to be nothing but ranch land, is now home to thousands of residences and Eagle Mountain High School. Thousands more homes, businesses and a $200 million road transformation are on the way.
DiPietro said that with such a boom in population, there’s plenty of reason to place a grocery store along Bonds Ranch Road. As the only grocery store within 4 miles, the market includes home goods, clothing, a gas station and full-service grocery.
It even features local coffee shop Pax & Beneficia with the café right at the entrance.
The store will open with fanfare from the V.R. Eaton High School marching band and cheer team at 6 a.m. Friday, right in time for locals to stock up on Halloween candy.
The grand opening will feature savings from Oct. 31 to Nov. 4, including 20 cents off per gallon of gas at the fuel center with a Kroger Rewards Card. Along with a plentiful supply of samples ranging from guacamole to local brews, the first 230 shoppers will also receive surprise gifts such as gift cards and small appliances.
