The Singing Chef Cafe will move locations, but we aren’t sure where yet

The Singing Chef Cafe in southwest Fort Worth will move out of its 8000 Wichita Street location by the end of December.

“My building is just incredibly broken and it is dangerous for us to continue to operate here,” restaurant owner Sammy Fox wrote in a Facebook post. “After many many many disputes with my landlord about fixing the building, we cannot come to an agreement.”

However, the Facebook post specified that despite the building crumbling, business at The Singing Chef Cafe has been thriving.

So much so, gospel singer and Grammy winner Kirk Franklin gave the owner a good word on social media recently.

Locals do not have to say goodbye to the Franklin-endorsed soul food cuisine but may have to look around to find their next meal there. Until The Singing Chef finds another brick and mortar, the restaurant will pop up at new locations around the city.

Here’s what else we know.

Why does The Singing Chef Cafe have to move buildings?

The restaurant’s Chef Sammy Fox realized it was time to move on during a rainy day in Fort Worth when rain seeped into the cafe and caused an eclectic surge, forcing them to close for the day.

“The roof on this building needs to be fixed. The pipes are not adequately installed. The inside roof has disintegrated. Gigantic potholes that are against code enforcement in front of their café. Impossible to have guests,” he wrote in the Facebook post.

Despite the building’s condition, The Singing Chef Cafe never had a shortage of guests wanting Fox’s chicken fried chicken pork chop.

How to know where The Singing Chef Cafe will pop up

To find where The Singing Chef Cafe will pop up, check the restaurant’s Facebook page.

Chef Fox said he will try to pop up in four locations each month. He will also take requests for where to pop up.

He hopes to announce the locations three to four days in advance on Facebook, so customers can plan ahead.
