Rodents, roaches found in these Tarrant restaurant inspection reports in October

The Star-Telegram keeps track of every health inspection report for Tarrant and Dallas counties. October held some notable citations.

Many reports noted roaches or rodents in several establishments. One Frisco restaurant was warned for an excess of debris and trash that was not properly taken care of.

Here’s a complete roundup of the restaurants that received some of the lowest ratings in October.

Tarrant County

Tarrant County Public Health uses an inspection format that considers 100 as the highest possible score, with a score of 70 considered extremely poor. Restaurants scoring below 70 require a follow-up inspection.

A few restaurants struggled with rodents and rodent droppings, including Bedford Beer & Wine at 800 Brown Trail in Bedford, Mexican Inn Cafe at 6709 Lake Worth Blvd. in Lake Worth, La Guera Micheladas Mix at 5724 Jacksboro Highway in Sansom Park, Benbrook Quickway at 955 Winscott Road in Benbrook, Quick Pantry at 800 N. Crowley Road in Crowley and Tacomigo at 781 W. Bedford Euless Road in Hurst.

NYC Bagel And Deli at 3930 Glade Road in Colleyville also had reports of roaches and maggots.

Fort Worth

Fort Worth’s restaurant inspections function on a demerit system. Zero demerits is considered a perfect score. Restaurants with more than 30 demerits are required to fix the worst problems immediately and remedy the rest within 48 hours.

Rodent droppings were found at bb.q Chicken at 2880 W. Berry St. And roaches were found at five different restaurants— Elks Lodge at 3233 White Settlement Road, Trinity Food Mart at 2961 S. Precinct Line Road, Wonderpho Noodles and Springroll Bar at 2747 S. Hulen St., Pho Noodle and Grill at 4601 W. Freeway and Marisqueria La Perla at 4200 S. Freeway.

Arlington

Arlington restaurants are scored on a 100-point system, with 100 being a perfect score. Restaurants and other places that serve food that score 75 or less require a follow-up inspection, and a score of 70 is considered extremely poor.

Roach infestations (along with other things) caused two restaurants to temporarily close down: Lang Song Xanh at 2535 E Arkansas Lane Suite 335 and Kentucky Fried Chicken at 700 W Abram St.

Dallas

Dallas’ health inspections function on a 100-point system. A score of 100 is considered perfect and scores below 70 are considered failing, with reinspection required within 10 days.

Six Dallas restaurants struggled with roaches: Together Forever Business Corp / World Kitchen at 4515 Village Fair Drive, Lil Vee’s Bbq at 4353 Gannon Lane, Gabriela & Sofia’s Tex-Mex at 10455 North Central Expressway, Inagu at 10788 Harry Hines Blvd., Trees at 2709 Elm St., Timbers Beverage at 18611 Marsh Lane.

Two other restaurants also had reports of rodent droppings: Fair Park Grocery LLC at 2203 Lagow St. (also had a dead mice in a trap) and Grand City Groceries at 3026 Grand Ave.

Frisco

Frisco’s restaurant inspections function on a demerit system: Zero demerits is considered a perfect score. When an establishment has more than 30 demerits, the inspector may close the location at their discretion. That decision is based on the nature of violations, the establishment’s history and other risk factors.

Red Hot Chilli Pepper at 8549 Gaylord Parkway had loads of trash and debris stored outside their dumpster. Inspectors found roaches at Chennai Cafe at 3301 Preston Road and Gallo Nero Italian Bistro at 4851 Legacy Drive.

Plano

Plano’s restaurant inspections function on a 100-point system: A score of 100 is perfect, and 70 is considered extremely poor. Each food establishment receives between one and four routine inspections per year.

Roaches were found at Minerva Banquet Hall & Catering at 3825 W. Spring Creek Parkway, Suite 20 and Smokin Grill at 3611 14th St., Suite 110 which was also temporarily closed due to roaches and improper handwashing facilities.
