‘Extensive’ amount of trash found in latest Frisco health inspections

Four Frisco restaurants were threatened with citations and roaches were found at two other eateries in the latest round of city health inspections, according to the inspection report.

The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data from Oct. 12 through Oct. 25 and 101 inspections.

Frisco’s health inspections function on a demerit system: demerits add up one at a time, and an establishment fails inspection past 30 demerits.

When demerits exceed 30, a health inspector may choose to close an establishment based on the nature of the violations, the establishment’s history of compliance and other factors.

Inspectors noted roaches at two restaurants:

  • Chennai Cafe, located at 3301 Preston Road, had a score of 14. One dead and three live roaches were observed in the buffet warming area.
  • Gallo Nero Italian Bistro, located at 4851 Legacy Drive, had a score of 8. Inspectors found a live roach in the kitchen area.

Four restaurants were warned of possible citations:

  • K & K African Market, located at 307 Main Street, had a score of 26. All reach-in freezers at the market must be cleaned prior to the next inspection to avoid citation, according to the report.
  • Red Hot Chilli Pepper, located at 8549 Gaylord Parkway, had a score of 21. The restaurant’s unfinished back area was being used to store and prepare food, and an “extensive” amount of trash and debris were being stored outside a dumpster, according to the report.
  • Thai Spice Restaurant, located at 13355 Dallas Parkway, had a score of 15. The restaurant must correct issues with its hot and cold holding temperatures or face citation at the next inspection.
  • Hyderabadi Spicy Matka, located at 2550 Preston Road, had a score of 13. Time-controlled foods kept over 24 hours must be dated with a 7-day discard date, according to the report.

Here are the inspection scores and violations for food establishments within the city limits of Frisco for Oct. 12th - Oct. 25th, 2025. Scores are based on a demerit system. When the total exceeds 30, the food establishment fails. At that time, the health inspector may close a food establishment at their discretion. This decision is based on the nature of the violations, the food establishment's history of compliance, and other risk factors.
