Fort Worth uses a demerit system, with zero being a perfect score.
Quick Mart at 2600 Ephriham Ave. scored 13 demerits on Oct. 1. Some frozen food was improperly thawed, other food was improperly labeled, and the only hand sink in the kitchen couldn’t be used because of problems with the drain.
The establishment was required to close until the issues with the hand sink could be fixed.
Subway at 900 8th Ave. scored 7 demerits on Oct. 3. The inspector found a live roach, several employees hadn’t completed an accredited food handler course, and there wasn’t enough hot water at the hand sinks. The city closed the restaurant until the problem with the hot water could be addressed.
No establishments scored more than 30 demerits during this round of inspections. Restaurants that receive more than 30 demerits are required to immediately fix the most critical violations and start corrective procedures on all the other violations within 48 hours.
La Madeleine at 6140 Camp Bowie Blvd. received a high score of 29 on Sept. 29. The inspector found flies, food held at an unsafe temperature and boxes of food stored on the floor.
A Korean fried chicken restaurant, bb.q Chicken at 2880 W. Berry St. near Texas Christian University, scored 20 on Oct. 2. The inspector noticed raw eggs and beef stored above the produce, organic matter on the ice chute and ice maker door, and rodent droppings in the dry storage area.
Roaches were found in several establishments, including Elks Lodge at 3233 White Settlement Road, Trinity Food Mart at 2961 S. Precinct Line Road, Wonderpho Noodles and Springroll Bar at 2747 S. Hulen St., Pho Noodle and Grill at 4601 W. Freeway and Marisqueria La Perla at 4200 S. Freeway.
