Roaches found at Dallas restaurants during recent health inspections

Two Dallas restaurants were cited by health inspectors for storing food at unsafe temperatures, and roaches were found at other eateries, the city’s recent inspection records show.

The reports compiled by the Star-Telegram contain health violations from Sept. 14 through Sept. 27 and the results of 285 inspections.

Dallas’ health inspections function on a 100-point system: A score of 100 is considered perfect and scores below 70 are considered failing, with re-inspections required within 10 days.

Four restaurants needed re-inspections:

  • I Luv Pho Noodle Soup & Grill, at 7927 Forest Lane Suite B. The restaurant received a citation after health inspectors observed roaches and food stored at unsafe temperatures. Score 70.
  • Rodeo Catfish II, at 2223 Singleton Blvd Suite 222. Score: 71.
  • Fruteria Cano, at 1133 N. Zang Blvd. Suite 110. Score: 73.
  • Circle Lounge And Cafe LLC, at 18110 Midway Road Suite 134. Score: 78

Along with I Luv Pho Noodle Soup & Grill, roaches were observed at:

  • Buckner Shell, at 2438 S Buckner Blvd. Score: 82.
  • Family Dollar #4350, at 383 W. Jefferson Blvd. Score: 90.
  • Stults Road Elementary, at 8700 Stults Road. Score: 90.

Four places that serve food had follow-up inspections:

  • Discount Tobacco & Grocery, at 4864 S. Buckner Blvd. Suite A.
  • Homeless Assistance Center, at 1818 Corsicana St.
  • Popeyes, at 11360 E. Northwest Highway.
  • Verona Italian Restaurant, at 9039 Garland Road.

Another restaurant that received a citation during this inspection cycle was Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, at 4475 Adler Drive Suite 106, after inspectors observed food stored at unsafe temperatures. Score: 83.

Here are the inspection scores and violations for restaurants within the city limits of Dallas for Sept. 14th - Sept. 27th, 2025. A score of 100 is a perfect score and 70 is considered to be extremely poor. Scores below 80 require a re-inspection, and below 60 require closure and inspection before reopening.
